This tour takes you through the middle of the Land of 1000 Ponds. At the starting point in Tirschenreuth, the Fischhofpark (formerly the garden show area) as well as the large aquariums in the MuseumsQuartier and in the “Haus am Teich” await you. On the way through the Tirschenreuther Teichpfanne with its more than 2,500 ponds, it is worth taking a short detour on the Vizinalbahn cycle path to the “Himmelsleiter”. On the observation tower you not only get a lot closer to the sky, but you also have a unique view over the pond landscape.
From afar you can see Falkenberg Castle, which towers on its mighty granite rock above the town of the same name. One of the Zoiglstuben is a great place to stop for a tasty cult beer and a hearty snack.
Tip for warm summer days: you can jump into the cool water at the Wiesau forest lakes and the Rothenbürger Weiher.
