Once you have sat on the sun terrace of the Klagenfurter Hütte and enjoyed the view of the Hochstuhl, you will understand why this hut has held a special place in the hearts of many mountain hikers for generations. The tour is demanding, with a section in alpine terrain, and requires very good basic fitness and sure-footedness. Nevertheless, the round is quite feasible for experienced families with older children.

From the Johannsenruhe car park in Bärental, you start on a forest road that leads you through the valley and the alpine forest with beautiful views. Your gaze wanders over the picturesque Bärental, a quiet, idyllic gorge with wonderful perspectives of the Karawanken range. You follow this valley uphill until you reach the Klagenfurter Hütte on the Matschacher Alm. The terrain around the hut is a natural playground of meadows and rocks. At the hut, the Brettljause, the Bauerngröstl, and the homemade strudel are worth trying.

You can reach the Johannsenruhe car park from Feistritz im Rosental, where you turn into Bärental.
