Easter Saturday 🐣🐥🐇 Time for the newly opened Marienschlucht 🚶🏻♀️🚶🏼♀️🤩 We started in Langenrain at the parking lot of the community center and then walked over the Blissenhalde to the Marienschlucht. The entrance is located shortly after a parking lot, which however has only a few parking spaces. On the way to the gorge, you also pass the ruin of Kargegg, which is however closed. Only a week ago was the Marienschlucht reopened, after it had been closed for 11 years. 88 tons of steel were used here to build a high-tech walkway 300 meters long. An impressive structure 😲 Many steps later, you reach the ship's landing stage at the bottom of the gorge. The original path can only be guessed at times. We then hiked along the shore path to Bodman. Beautiful path past the Mondfelsen and the overgrown slopes fragrant with wild garlic. On a nicely located bench, we consumed our brought-along Easter brunch (under envious glances 😜) and took a longer break. Then we walked on to Bodman. There we had a coffee break ☕️☕️, got an ice cream 🍦, and then climbed up to the ruin of Altbodman. At the very top, we drank our 🥂🥂 with the great view and the warming sun, before we then walked from the ruin first in the direction of the bison farm and then across and quite straight through the forest 🤪, back to Langenrain. Conclusion: Very beautiful tour, with the impressive walkway of the Marienschlucht and on paths that are easy and comfortable to walk. Thanks Anke for accompanying us on this Easter hike 🐣🐇🐥 We wish you all a Happy Easter 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏼♀️
Long but varied hike to the Marienschlucht. The stairs are not for the faint of heart! In Bodman there are many places to stop for refreshments.
We parked at Bodman Parkplatz Kapelle - it is recommended. Day ticket 5€ - payable in coins, EC card or mobile - what more could you want. And the toilets are free and were clean on a weekday. 👍 To the Marienschlucht: We were there on a Thursday outside of the holidays, but it was already unpleasantly crowded. From the parking lot located above, there was heavy traffic down the gorge. How must it be on the weekend 🫣 The rest of the hiking trail and also Bodman were comfortably quiet.
Plenty of views of Lake Constance, despite the gloomy weather. The path up the slope at the turning point of the hike was signposted as closed from above, but not from below... It was accessible...
By train from Salem to Radolfzell then by bus to Liggeringen. Beautiful tour of Liggeringen to the ruins of Alt-Bodman, then down to the lake. We walked along the lake to the Marienschlucht gorge. There in a zigzag course on a beautiful path back up. Through forests and meadows then back to Liggeringen. From there then back by bus and train.
Finally, it is accessible again. After an 11-year break, the Marienschlucht is open again. On days like these, it is therefore no wonder that the free parking lot at the Marienschlucht was completely full. Our equally free hiking parking lot was the ideal starting point for the beautiful loop.
Parked above Bodman at the historic water reservoir (previously free). The goal was the path to the Marienschlucht, which is accessible despite being closed at km 6.3 (my turning point) up to the gorge. The way up to the Bodanrück requires sure-footedness and a head for heights, but can be walked well when it's dry. It was only at the top of the climb that I realized that this path was actually closed. The woods between Langenrain and the bison enclosure look pretty battered by last week's storm, many fallen and splintered trees, but everything has already been cleared from the paths. Because of the heat, the bison simply lay in the shade and took a siesta, and I went to the bison room too - a nice beer garden. Access to the forecourt of the Frauenberg monastery is currently blocked due to a broken branch. A pity. The view from there is gigantic. Hardly committed round.
