It's best to start your hike early in the morning at the free parking lot 1, which is only 1-2 minutes away from Vorderer Gosausee. In the morning you can easily find a free parking space (it fills up quickly) and you can marvel at the most beautiful light on the lake. The path then leads past the front lake, through the forest and with a constant view of the Dachstein. When you arrive at the rear of the Gosausee after some time and a constant climb, which occasionally becomes steeper, you will see a beautiful panorama of the lake, the reflection and the Dachstein glacier. At the back you will find a hut for snacks. Unfortunately, this is not a circular route. You have to go back the same way. But when you arrive at the front lake, you can follow the circular path along this route and return to the parking lot on the opposite side.
Indian Summer,🍁🍂 is also available in Austria at the Gosauseen. You really get into a rush of colors.
Wonderful hike and fantastic nature to enjoy.
I was drawn back to the Gosau lakes. I really wanted to see it in the fall. And it was an experience. From the front Gosausee to the rear Gosausee in 1.5 hours, then almost to the end and back in between short rest, a total of 4 hours on the way. It's good that I started soon, no people and above all 🌞.
Today was a wonderful day on our hike along the 3 Gossau lakes. The autumn colours of the trees are already coming to an end, but the reflections of this magnificent colour and mountain backdrop are magically attractive. The lush green of the moss is in stark contrast to the colour of the leaves and the water/waterfalls. A magnificent natural spectacle, and the Dachstein massif is always in sight. There is also a climbing garden at the first Gosau lake, which makes me dizzy just watching. Two hikers told us that the snow avalanche at the rear Gosau lake was 4 metres high 3 weeks ago. You can also walk around the front Gosau lake, but it doesn't matter today, as one side was already in the shade in the morning. It was so extremely warm again with no wind - apart from a warm foehn wind - that we hiked back the same route. At every car park near the lakes or in Gosau you pay €10.00 for a daily ticket - €4.00 for 2 hours - €7.00 for 4 hours.
Today we went to the back of the Gosausee in heavy rain... the path to get there was longer than expected because of the many little frogs 🐸. But it was worth it. Anyone can do it in sunshine. 😎
