Very interesting information through the app. The tour is very well signposted.
One tour that we always enjoy doing is the Roggenburger Weiher. We discovered them because they are listening tours in Bavarian Swabia. Almost every Komoot user should be familiar. If not, then you should definitely look for it. Absolute recommendation; especially for outdoor enthusiasts who are out and about with children.
Our monthly tour started today at the parking lot at the Roggenburg Forest Adventure Center, right next to Roggenburg Monastery. Anyone can download the listening tour app in the Bavarian Swabia region for free. Ours today was the "Beaver Tour", entertaining, informative and suitable for children from around 10 years of age. The route starts in the church. The monastery church has been undergoing extensive renovation since 2022. The extremely high scaffolding "overwhelms" you, you stand there with your mouth open and cannot find a clear view of the many pictures, angels, etc. The construction period is expected to last 3 years. Take a look. Impressive. We walked comfortably through the ivy forest down to the pond, where we were told that the monks used to have beavers on their menu. During the (meatless) Holy Week they enjoyed the swimming beaver from the in-house carp pond. 🐟 We didn't find any fresh beaver gnawing tracks today. We continued up through the forest to the Wannenkapelle, a place of pilgrimage for grateful Christians. At the edge of the forest we heard "Turn around once and as far as you can see, these lands belonged to the church at the time", or something like that. I don't remember the exact wording because it was below zero, darkness was approaching and we just wanted to reach our destination.🥶😄 Past the bike house with a D, I'll read the information board later 😉, up the mountain and quickly into the warmth. Summer, blue sky, green meadows, sun... then the tour would be more enjoyable.
