Elephant Head

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Elephant Head is a huge, bare rock dome that sits just above the Crawford Notch Road. It is accessed via a short spur trail off of the popular Webster-Jackson Trail and is a great place to stop on your hike. From the open, exposed top, you get fantastic views straight down to the road and old railroad as well as down the notch itself. The views are exceptionally great in the fall as the leaves change from green to hues of red, yellow, and orange. Please be careful at the edge, however. It is rounded and then steeply drops off hundreds of feet so use caution and keep an eye on children as you enjoy the views.
