Short but sweet: This easy hike through the Taubenloch Gorge in Biel is absolutely worthwhile despite its brevity, as the power of the rushing Schüss River can be admired in a variety of ways.
The walk on well-maintained paths begins practically in the heart of Biel, right at a bus stop. With a gentle incline, but never particularly steep, you'll hike between, under, and even through the narrow rock walls. Short bridges allow you to cross the river several times, and halfway through the hike, a great rest area with free firewood awaits you near a small hydroelectric power plant, perfect for a picnic in your backpack. Upon reaching Frinvillier, the aqueduct offers another fascinating sight – here, the water flows over water!
The starting point is the Taubenloch bus stop, which you can reach from Biel train station. In Frinvillier, the end point of the hike, the regional train runs back to Biel. Arriving by car is not recommended, as there is no parking available.
