This loop begins at the Bruciarello springs in the Cotronei area, known for the thermal waters that flow naturally along the Neto River valley floor.
Leaving the spa, the route gains altitude with a steady climb and continues along the hillside leading inland. The landscape gradually changes: from a humid, lush valley floor, it transitions to more open hills, with woods, pastures, and sparsely populated rural areas. The first stop is Cerenzia, a small, hilltop historic center that retains the compact layout typical of the villages in the Crotone hinterland.
Continuing the climb, you reach Acerenthia, the site of the ancient Cerenzia Vecchia, abandoned after the 18th-century earthquakes. In this isolated and quiet place, you can still visit the remains of the buildings, the walls, and the medieval cathedral that dominate the surrounding landscape.
After the visit, the route turns back and begins a long descent towards the Neto valley floor. Here you connect to the Val di Neto cycle path, a flat and smooth stretch that leads back to the Bruciarello springs, where you can take a break and, if conditions permit, end the day with a pleasant dip in the thermal waters.
