This route connects to the Tiber Cycle Route from Bettona, pedaling along the banks of the Chiascio River in an area rich in history and nature. Start from the village of Bettona, also known as the "balcony of Umbria" because from its lookout point, you can admire a unique panorama spanning the entire valley between Perugia and Spoleto, with a unique view of Assisi.
You can reach the starting point by car or by public transport from Perugia, but make sure they allow bicycle transport.
From Bettona, the start is downhill: you pass the Passeggio building and continue to the banks of the Chiascio River, which you cross via an iron bridge. You pedal through a rural landscape with the Martani Mountains as a backdrop, until you reach Torgiano. In this small town, with a short detour from the route, you can stop for a coffee and admire the historic center.
Just outside Torgiano, the Chiascio River flows into the Tiber, which you cross via a wooden pedestrian and cycle bridge. Continue along the dirt road along the riverbank until you reach Pontenuovo. Here, you can choose whether to continue along the Tiber Cycle Path toward Deruta, or return to Bettona by retracing your steps.
