Usually you can find bogs in the plain. This one is different. The nature reserve Ebbemoore is located in the middle of the Ebbegebirge on the edge of the Sauerland - a densely wooded and almost uninhabited natural jewel between Meinerzhagen and Attendorn.

The harsh and rainy climate here is favorable for the moor development. Compared to the "typical" lowland moor, the small individual areas of the Ebbemoore are usually located on a hillside, which gives them a special natural history significance. On this tour you will explore this varied area with its own flora and fauna by bike. Start and finish of the tour are in the small Hanseatic city of Attendorn, which you can easily reach by train and of course by car.

Unlike many other Moortouren it goes on this round quite hilly. You will even climb the highest point of the Ebbe mountains, the Nordhelle at 663 meters altitude, and you can enjoy the great view of the Ebbe mountains from the Robert Kolb tower. In addition, the route leads you through the "groundless", source area of the Lister and the largest section of the moors of the nature reserve. Back to Attendorn it goes on an almost ten-kilometer-long madness downhill and along the Ostertalsperre, before you again reach the interesting Hanseatic city, which is known nationally, through its stalactite cave, the "Attahöhle".

The Lister runs within the Sauerland in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park. It rises within the Ebbegebirge, north of the Rothenstein mountain (approx. 600 m above sea level). Its source, located in the Grundlose raised bog, is in the Auf'm Ebbe/Ebbemoore nature reserve, which stretches between the hamlets of Schürfelde and Nocken in the north, which belong to the Meinerzhagen urban area, and the village of Willertshagen in the south, around 870 m east-northeast of the Rothenstein rest area (540 to 580 m) on the A45 federal highway (Sauerland line) at an altitude of around 560 m.

The Lister flows in a predominantly southeasterly direction between the Ebbegebirge in the northwest and the Listertalsperre in the southeast through the Ebbegebirge Nature Park: initially the stream heads south towards the village of Willertshagen, a few kilometers east of Meinerzhagen, which it passes immediately to the east.

From now on, the Lister flows through numerous hamlets in the urban area of Meinerzhagen and, among other places, through the Krummenerl district to the Hunswinkel district, where it flows from the west into the Listertalsperre (319.52 m), a branch of the Biggesee reservoir through which the Bigge flows, which abuts directly on the air side of the Lister dam. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lister_(Fluss)
