Today a Taunus circular route that runs off the beaten track around the Feldberg. For more information or details on the route https://taunus.info/angebote/sport-und-outdoor/wandern/wanderwege/richard-hofmann-weg/r-81/ The Eppstein train station is the ideal starting point, whether you arrive by public transport or by car. The circular route itself is beautiful, although there are also a few points of criticism: the route is difficult to walk without a hiking app. The imperial temple symbol (official signpost) was used sparingly. You won't find it at some crossroads and forks in the road. You should walk the circuit in the summer if it hasn't rained for a week. Currently you sink into the mud on these paths. It's even a bit dangerous in places. Between Eppenhain and Ehlhalten you have to go down a forest path on which a small stream has developed at the moment. So you trudge through the creek with steep gradients and extremely slippery ground.
Hiking in the Taunus (# 20): Richard-Hofmann-Weg - the most beautiful hikes in the Taunus Started in Eppstein in sunny weather and arrived back in the rain. Nice round around Eppstein. More information on the Internet: http://vve-eppstein.de/rundwanderwege/richard-hofmann-weg.html
It was very nice 😊 4 € entry + Eppstein Castle Museum not expensive 17.40 for food and drink 🔨 Prices can also ask for more for work
Today I want to do a bigger tour through the beautiful Taunus. Weather perfect, 18-24 degrees and sun-cloud change. Start is at the castle in Eppstein from the 13th century. 1000 years of history can be explored in the museum. But just not possible because it is blocked. It goes towards Eppenhain, a district of Kelkheim. 3.5 km you need a good physical condition. It's a steep uphill. Nice, good forest paths reward me for it. From Eppenhain, it's first a leisurely descent. It goes through meadows and fields with beautiful views. Past Ehlhalten. Forest and meadow alternate. Good, wide hiking trails and forest paths can also be experienced alternately. Other Taunus villages such as Ober-Unterjosbach nestle against the Taunus slopes. Nice photo opportunities. After Bremthal, Eppstein lies ahead of me. I leave the circular path, take a shortcut that leads to Villa Anna in the Bergpark. My tour ends at the train station, where my hiking taxi is already waiting for me. (Best husband ever)
Veronika put together a really challenging tour today - for our standards. The signposted tour "Rund um Eppstein, Richard-Hofmann-Weg" of the Eppstein Beautification Association, but without Eppstein, as we have already "haunted" it on another tour. The Richard-Hofmann-Weg was established in 2006 by the beautification association and marked with the imperial temple symbol as a signpost. It is about 21 kilometers long, starts at the Eppstein city train station and winds around all five parts of the city. The route leads through beautiful and varied Taunus landscape, crosses three parts of the city and can also be hiked in two stages, with Niederjosbach as the dividing point at about half the distance. The trail is named after Richard Hofmann, who was mayor of Eppstein for 33 years and, as a hiking enthusiast, was very committed to setting up the circular trail. We got on in the Bremthal industrial area and then continued to the forest trail and down to the outskirts of Eppstein and up again on the other side. Conclusion: A quite demanding tour with a number of meters in altitude, which really gets in your legs, especially in muddy weather like today.
Today's tour comes from the brochure "Wandern im Taunus", from which I also took the wonderful tours 'Via Mattiacorum' and 'Camberger Kercheweg'. Together with @Taunus Mo😎🚶♀️🚵♂️ we went around and crossing Eppstein. Thank you very much, it was really fun with you 🤗 To the circular route: Richard Hofmann, who gave the name to this tour set up by the Eppstein Beautification Association, was mayor of Eppstein for many years. The tour crosses and wraps around all 5 districts and starts directly at the Eppstein train station, where there are also plenty of free parking spaces if you arrive by car. At the end, our route is supplemented by my beloved mountain park with the Neufville Tower. Simply a must 😊 Fun fact: the path is marked with the pictogram of *the* Eppstein landmark, the imperial temple 🏛️, which is not part of this round at all 🤷😅 Anyway: great tour & nice day 🌳🦝🐏🥾
I recently discovered the tour at @Susa 🍀 and then did some research on the internet again, thanks for the inspiration! We started in Bremthal near the tegut and then followed the symbol with the imperial temple and the name Rundweg Eppstein in an anti-clockwise direction. After the Carla Hilda rock we left the official route to save ourselves the route through Eppstein, which we already knew. A route with many forest sections, some of which were still frozen and some a bit muddy. Unfortunately, the prospects weren't that great today due to the weather - it looks great when the sun is shining, as you can see from the other pictures in the highlights. The signposting was not always optimal, without the saved tour on Komoot we would certainly have gotten lost more often. And yes, I did find it exhausting at times, as there were several ups and downs and the partly slippery descents were harder for me today than the ascents. If you don't know Eppstein, you should follow the original route and stroll through the town. Official description: The Richard-Hofmann-Weg marked with the imperial temple symbol as a signpost was set up in 2006 by the Eppstein Beautification Association. It is 21 kilometers long and wraps itself around all five districts of Eppstein. From the Eppstein city train station, you follow paths, some of which are historic, through a varied Taunus landscape with beautiful views past various Eppstein sights. About halfway is Niederjosbach, where you can easily divide the entire route into two stages. The trail is named after Richard Hofmann, who was mayor of Eppstein for 33 years and, as a hiking enthusiast, was very committed to setting up the circular trail. https://taunus.info/angebote/sport-und-outdoor/wandern/wanderwege/richard-hofmann-weg/r-81/
Today, with great 🌞 sunshine, I met @Gudi in Eppstein for a fantastic 🥾 hike: Around Eppstein. It was a lot of 🤩 fun and 😅 joy for us. I wish you all a 👍 great Whitsun festival. 🥾🚲🙋🏻♂️
