Hiking

Magnificent views, picturesque forest paths and romantic resting places - the Waldsolms Panorama Trail offers you pure hiking pleasure in the Taunus. Look forward to a 18-kilometer route with a lot of variety. The tour starts in Brandoberndorf. Since the route is designed as a loop, you can also get on in one of the other districts of Waldsolms.

The “Panoramaweg” project was started in 2005 by HessenForst in collaboration with the Waldsolms community and the Taunus Nature Park Association. The route is now very popular with hikers, joggers and cyclists. Pack some provisions, then you can make yourself comfortable in one of the four seating groups along the way and enjoy nature even better.

The well-signposted path leads you over wide fields and through beautiful forest sections. Several overview boards show you the way along the route.

We ran the Tour yesterday and I would like to address a couple of points.

In principle it is a very nice tour, especially in the last two thirds of the tour more than lives up to its name Panorama Tour. On the first third you are more in the forest and the panoramic view is limited to a few views.

https://taunus.info/angebote/sport-und-outdoor/wandern/wanderwege/panoramaweg-waldsolms/r-178/ The Waldsolms Panorama Trail lives up to its name. The panorama from one or the other hill is fantastically beautiful. With the current temperatures, you can walk through thick snow fields or up drafty, cold hills. It's really fun to discover something in the distance and to orient yourself using large buildings, such as the Feldberg or the view of the Taunus, etc. The signposted circular tour is fun on all levels, I'm personally always a fan of the marked routes. Here you can be sure that the path is in order and the annoying cell phone finally stays in your pocket. This is a big advantage of marked premium trails. The signage is unfortunately only "good" - there are no signs in one or two corners and navigation is necessary. There are no signs at all, especially in the wide fields. This round does have one small flaw, unfortunately there was too much asphalt for me and the forest paths were only the well-known forest highways. However, this is only a small flaw, the views smooth out these waves. A small success for me too, managed the 6.0 km/h average for the first time 🤣 Highlights are the views, the rest benches with the wonderfully thought-out views, the nature and the Kuhschwanzweiher pond. Have a nice Saturday everyone 🙋🏻‍♂️

At @Taunus Mo😎🚶‍♀️🚵‍♂️'s suggestion and invitation, we decided to do another round from "Wander im Taunus": 🏞️🥾 This time the 18.5km long 'Panoramaweg Waldsolms'. Because of the heavy rain, a submarine would have been fine for the outward journey; We also got a monster rubble, where no unprotected threads remained dry, on the tour; during a thunderstorm we sheltered ourselves in a farmer's equipment shelter... And finally got another piece of debris. But: everyone can do it 🤪😊😅 There was also a bit of adventure, because a well-watered stream had to be crossed with a courageous jump. The long dirt roads at the end have pulled a bit. Nevertheless: it was really fun again and the tour is always a 'panoramic tour' 😊💚 Cheers 🍹 🌳🌲🌻🌺

They must have good marketing in Waldsolms, because the panorama trail doesn't offer any more panoramas than most other hiking trails in the Taunus. There are certainly none on the first 6 km in the forest. I've had this trail from a Komoot Taunus collection in my planned hikes for years and am now a little disappointed. The entire trail is on wide paths, some of them asphalted, which could easily have been done by bike. But hey, the trail is easy and almost relaxing. And there are a few views after all and the rapeseed and fruit trees are blooming so beautifully. It almost doesn't matter where you're doing outdoor activities.

A beautiful, varied hiking route, which leads a lot over asphalt in the first half. There are many picnic areas with a view here. The second part is more on nature trails, but there is less seating 😏. Especially in the Uthental I miss benches where you can linger.

Having this tour on my list for a long time, I used the New Year to experience it. The tour is well signposted, even if it goes one or two times along busy roads. The many benches to enjoy the view are also great. The path is mostly solid. So if you prefer the natural underground, you should take another tour from me 😉 As always, I wish you a lot of fun following and I'm happy to write your experiences about the tour in the comments. PS Since I somehow didn't understand that there was a parking lot (at the swimming pool), I used the parking lot at the RB 15 Brandoberndorf stop and walked the few meters.

Free parking at the outdoor pool (alternatively at the Kuhschwanzweiher). Great circular route. Certainly also worth seeing in autumn, as you walk a lot through deciduous forests 🍁🍂

I usually start the hiking season in January with a short route near the city so that I can stop at any time 😉. This year, I thought I would drive to the Hintertaunus and do a longer route. It then became the Waldsolm Panorama Trail around Brandoberndorf. The first half of the route went beautifully through the forest and at the end through a picturesque valley. The second half took me completely through the fields. I was really glad that I didn't run in the middle of summer when the sun is baking.

A very nice tour around Brandoberndorf. With ups and downs 😉. Fantastic weather
