Cammino Balteo - first stage-PONT-SAINT-MARTIN - LILLIANES Location: Lillianes, Perloz, Pont-Saint-Martin The Cammino Balteo starts here, from Pont-Saint-Martin. A place that owes its name first of all to the magnificent Roman bridge of the 1st century BC and to the legend of Saint Martin of Tours who, in order to build this bridge, defeated the devil. The path goes up the course of the Lys torrent, accompanying the discovery of the lands of the powerful Valleise family. Perloz, a cluster of houses boldly attached to the rocky slope, dominated by noble strongholds under the protection of the sanctuary of Notre-Dame-de-La-Garde. A medieval village that also links its name to the partisan struggle thanks to the rich museum of the Resistance named after the daring Lys Brigade. After crossing the Lys, you continue on a half-hill balcony that leads to Lillianes, welcomed by the suggestive stone bridge built in 1733, the only one with four arches in the Aosta Valley, and by the beautiful parish church of San Rocco. A first “taste” of the Gressoney Valley.
