This route was planned by komoot.
We start from Zone, where there's also a bakery/grocery store where you can stock up on sandwiches. We climbed counterclockwise. The only difficulty was a small ridge downhill, which, due to the snow, gave me a bit of a shiver... but a mountaineer without my problems can handle it easily. The tour follows forest roads for the entire first and last section, and from the Almici refuge to Cima Cavarina, there's a beautiful, panoramic ridge trail with views of the lake and the Orobie Alps. Highly recommended!
Once I had completed the approach, I was in good spirits and full of motivation for the hike. But it quickly became clear that it was going to be quite strenuous. As had already been the case on the bike tour at the start, the climb continued uphill and became increasingly steeper. At least the paths were good at the beginning. That was about to change, though. At first, the path continued across meadows, but it got steeper and steeper. You probably can't tell that from the photos. At some point, there were no paths left at all. Only the sign for the hiking trail was always reliably visible: on the stones on the ground. And then I climbed, almost on all fours, bit by bit. Very narrow steps and a steep descent on the other side. I felt a bit uneasy, as I'm not exactly an experienced climber. At about 1,850 m, I had finally made it. Initially, I wanted to go up Monte Guglielmo. But after that torture, I'd had enough. So I started on the way back. It was also quite steep. But at least there are paths. 😂 At the bottom, I really felt my knees. What a hike. 😂 The scenery is beautiful, and there are very few people on the trail. The view of Lake Iseo is simply breathtaking.
Approach: From Zone 1.45 hours Verrata: Time 1 hour Descent 200 meters Difficulty: Difficult Well-equipped Lunch at the Almici Refuge with pà e strinù (a typical Italian dish) and beer Ascent to Guglielmo, Punta Caravina, and descent along a new path through the woods, which then opens up into green pastures and more woodland. "Recommended." Have a great via ferrata excursion!! 🤗
