The Casermetta at Col de la Seigne bears witness to a difficult coexistence between alpine nations, having been a guarded outpost along the border between Italy and France. During World War II, the Col de la Seigne was the scene of Italian attacks against France. Today, the Casermetta has been reborn and represents a meeting place for those who love exploring this wonderful alpine region. It is used for environmental education and cross-border information, also collecting socio-demographic data on the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB). It also serves as an emergency shelter. A pleasant surprise is that Wi-Fi is available thanks to a solar-powered smart bench.
