This route was planned by komoot.
This moderate hike typically takes around 4 hours and 11 minutes to complete. Keep in mind that this duration can vary based on your pace, breaks, and weather conditions.
The trail offers diverse terrain, including a significant change in elevation. You'll encounter a 'brusca risalita' (steep ascent) at one point, followed by beautiful beech woods with impressively large trees. The path generally follows a ridge, offering a mix of sunny sections and shaded forests.
Along this section, you'll pass by several notable features. Highlights include the View of the Ligurian Sea from Mount Ramaceto, the Cima del Monte Ramaceto, the Monte Ramaceto Ridge, and Mount Ramaceto itself. You'll also traverse Passo della Crocetta before reaching Bocca di Feie.
The recommended seasons for this section are spring and autumn, when the weather is generally mild and the scenery is vibrant. It's best to avoid the hottest summer days. If hiking in winter, be prepared for potential rain, snow, or fog, which might require specialized equipment like crampons and an ice axe on icy or snowy sections of the summit crest near Monte Ramaceto.
Yes, dogs are generally allowed on this trail. However, it's always best to keep your dog on a leash, especially in areas where wildlife might be present or near steep sections. Remember to pack enough water for your furry friend, as sources are limited on the trail.
This section of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri passes through the Aveto Natural Regional Park. Generally, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required for hiking on the trails within the park. However, always check the official park website for any updated regulations or specific requirements before your visit.
No, sources of water are not found directly on this route. It is crucial to carry sufficient water for the entire hike, especially during warmer months. Plan your hydration carefully before you start.
This specific segment of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri starts at Passo Ventarola Sud and ends at Bocca di Feie. Parking availability at these specific points can vary, so it's advisable to research local parking options or public transport connections to these trailheads beforehand.
Yes, this route intersects with and shares sections of several other trails. You'll find it overlaps with parts of the Anello di Liciorno/Ramaceto, the European Long distance path E1 - part Italy - Liguria, and the Passo di Ventarola - Passo della Forcella trail, among others.
While the broader Alta Via dei Monti Liguri is often described as 'not difficult hiking,' this specific segment is rated as moderate due to its significant elevation changes and a 'brusca risalita' (steep ascent). Beginners with a good level of fitness and some hiking experience might find it challenging but rewarding. Those new to hiking should be prepared for the climbs.
Given the moderate difficulty and lack of water sources, you should bring sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water, snacks, appropriate layers of clothing for changing weather, sun protection, and a map or GPS device. In winter, consider crampons and an ice axe if snow or ice is expected on higher sections.
The worst part of the route is... getting to the parking lot with the car! The last few kilometers are dirt roads, in some parts the road is bad and with many potholes. Apart from this the trail is very scenic, a particular once on the crest of Ramaceto which, with its amphitheater shape and its prominence, offers wonderful views of the sea and the surrounding woods (not on the day we ventured). At the beginning of the crest there are signs that warn and advise against the route if you are without equipment, with fog, ice or snow. Apart from the usual precautions to take in the mountains, we did not encounter any difficulties on this trail different from those present on any mountain trail. There are only a few slightly exposed sections but always very banal.
And finally Ramaceto is ours too :-D! We'd been there before, but couldn't walk the loop as we originally planned to. Disclaimer: WAIT FOR MORE HUMAN TEMPERATURES to do this. Your health depends on it, and you know that we care a lot :-P.
Wonderful view. Route not suitable for very hot days
Did you know that in the Aveto Regional Park there are more than 500 km of marked trails? The Park authorities have also created day-long trails called the Park Rings. Today I am along the A6 Ring or Mount Ramaceto Ring. Once you reach Ventarola in the municipality of Rezzoaglio (Genoa) you can park in a convenient parking lot and continue towards the houses. Ventarola (846m) is a small village of stone houses, some of which have been renovated, like the last one on the left, which has been transformed into the Ventarola Refuge (accessible only by reservation). This village has always been an important connection point for trade between the Po Valley and the Ligurian Riviera. Once you enter Ventarola, start following the signpost with the full yellow triangle. After about two kilometres on flat ground you arrive at the Crocetta Crossroads where you turn right, keeping the Pic-Nic area on your right. You then climb along the beech forest to the Passo di Ventarola sud where you reach the Alta Via and the view opens onto the sea and the surrounding valleys. You then climb to the Cappelletta Rifugio at 1320 m. The highest point is encountered later marked by a pole indicating the altitude of 1345 m. At a certain point you need to turn completely left and descend to the Passo della Crocetta where, always keeping completely to the left, you rejoin the Quadrivio della Crocetta and then Ventarola.
