This route was planned by komoot.
The trail typically starts by taking cable cars up to the Speikboden Alm at 2000 meters, or even higher to Sonnklar at 2400 meters. You can find parking at the valley station of the Speikboden cable car, which serves as the main access point for the area.
Yes, the trail is generally dog-friendly. However, it's always recommended to keep your dog on a leash, especially in areas with livestock or exposed sections. Be sure to bring enough water for your dog, as sources might be limited.
The best time to hike the Panoramaweg Speikboden to Michlreisalm is typically during the warmer months, from late spring to early autumn, when the cable cars are operating and the trails are free of snow. Sunrise walks are particularly popular for a memorable experience.
Generally, there are no specific hiking permits required for the trails themselves in Skiworld Ahrntal. However, you will need to purchase tickets for the cable cars if you choose to use them for access to the higher starting points like Speikboden Alm or Sonnklar.
The terrain is varied. It often involves traversing ridges, with some sections being gravelly and potentially exposed, particularly along the mountain crest from Speikboden to Seewasse Nock and Großer Nock. You may also encounter descents through rocky areas and small coniferous forests. The trails are generally well-maintained.
The trail lives up to its name, offering breathtaking panoramic views. You'll pass by the Slate Slab Trail, the Sonnklar Nock Summit, and enjoy a magnificent Panoramic View of the Alps. Other notable sights include the View of the Ausserer Michlreiser Alm and Hochbeine, the View of the Zillertal Alps, and the serene Lake Trejer.
The main Panoramaweg Speikboden route is rated as moderate and typically involves a walking time of about 4 hours and 45 minutes. Shorter variations exist, for example, a panoramic route of about 7.33 km can take around 3 hours. The section to Trejer Alm (also known as Äußere Michlreis Alm) is an easier walk, taking about 1 hour.
While the overall trail is moderate, some sections, especially those along the ridge after the Speikboden summit, may require good fitness and sure-footedness. However, easier sections, like the path to Trejer Alm (Äußere Michlreis Alm), are suitable even for prams, making parts of the route family-friendly.
Yes, there are opportunities for rest and refreshments. The Michlreisalm (also known as Trejer Alm or Äußere Michlreis Alm) is a mountain hut along the way. You'll also find a Rest Area by the Pond.
Yes, the route incorporates sections of several other official trails. You'll find yourself on parts of the Panoramaweg Speikboden, Mühlwalder Almweg, Via Alpina Red R33, and Pieterstein, among others, offering various connection possibilities.
One highly recommended unique experience is a sunrise walk. Starting early allows you to witness the first rays of sun illuminating the peaks while the valley below is still dark, creating a truly memorable and breathtaking panorama. The accessibility via cable cars also allows for customizing your route length based on your fitness level.
A nice tour from the mountain station to the speikboden summit. Stop at the sonnklarhütte and then over the Michlreisalm back to the mountain station. We often stopped to admire the panorama. Surefootedness is successful.
An easier tour starting at the Speikboden mountain station. There are 500m in the ascent, but the ascent is practically "tiled", i.e. there are many steps that facilitate the ascent to the small nock and then past the large nock to the summit of the Speikboden. After the descent from the Speikboden summit, you can use the Sonnklar hut, which is located directly at the mountain station of the chairlift, and later also the hut of the Trejer Alm as a place to stop for refreshments.
I started today in drizzle and 6 degrees. The starting point was the Speikboden cable car at 1958m. I had decided on the long circuit, with 3 summit crosses (smaller Nock 2227m/Speikboden 2518m/Sonnklar Nock 2390m). From Sonnklar onwards, Klara was merciful and showed herself more and more in sections. The ridge paths are great. I admire those who built and secured these paths. With a little more visibility, the hike would have been even more impressive; from the Sonnklar hut you have a view of various South Tyrolean mountain highlights... but even so - really great!
A very nice circular route, at the top of the ridge the wind blows strong and cool. The all-round view was magnificent... the landscape and the view changed every minute. 👍🏼🤩
So today was a great tour at Speickboden ⛰️🚶💪😍👌😇🍀🌈 I'm still totally overwhelmed by the impressions, rocky, rugged paths and this incredible view all the time 🤩🤩🤩 I can only warmly recommend everyone to imitate 👍😃 You should be a bit sure-footed and free from fear of heights because the path is very narrow in parts or leads over a ridge 😉 but in my opinion nothing really wild 😇 and that's what makes it so interesting and varied 👏🤘😅 @Daggi The Speickboden says hello to you 😃😇👍
The start is at the car park (free) of the Speikboden cable car. From there, the gondola takes you about 1000 meters up to the Speikboden Alm. In summer 2024, the ascent and descent cost €27.50. Once at the top, you walk the well-signposted and perfectly prepared "Giro Panoramico". The name says it all, you have a wonderful 360-degree view almost the entire tour. The view from the 2517m high Speikboden is particularly worthwhile. Various alpine huts with catering offer a place to rest along the way. The entire complex is very suitable for families, from small hiking tours, a children's via ferrata to several large slides, everything is there.
A really beautiful panoramic hike with several opportunities to stop for a break. The paths are well signposted and laid out. There are 3 alpine pastures where you can stop for a break. You just need a bit of stamina.
Most beautiful panoramic tour. We spent the whole day with the kids and there was no boredom. There was always something to see or admire. There are even geocaches hidden on the tour that have to be found... The via ferrata for kids is definitely possible with children aged 7-8 and above. A family before us did the climb with a 4-year-old. Try the tour. It gives you so much more than anything else...
