Departure: Ivano Fracena, Castel Ivano Travel time: 4.5 hours Convenient parking in via Grazioli, not far from the road that leads to the RSA of San Vendemmiano, where the excursion begins. Then follow the SAT 329 path, which leads first to the Prati dei Floriani, where there are several private huts, and then to the Monte Lefre refuge, always climbing with a steep slope and alternating stretches of hiking trail with stretches of forest road. From the summit, there is a beautiful view of Valsugana, and of the peaks of the Asiago plateau (Cima XII, Caldiera, Ortigara), and of the western Lagorai
Not a trivial excursion for the difference in altitude but also ideal on very cold days. The path, although in a wooded environment, is not covered, they are deciduous trees so you can fully enjoy a coast in the sun all day (in this period until about 4 pm). It is a path used during the First World War so it is easy to find positions and tunnels in the rock. A good part on a rocky path, old mule track, and some parts of forestry. You reach the summit following signs so as not to cross private fields. Arriving at the small church, we head to the Monte Lefre refuge (recommended for a gastronomic stop). A few more steps, between trenches and walkways, to reach the actual summit and a priceless panoramic view. We return from the same way.
