Stuttgart is not exactly known as the German bicycle city number one. Nevertheless - or just because - it is worth swinging on the bike. Get out of the fine dust muff, into nature. On this short tour with lots of ups and downs you will plow a few beautiful forest trails and singletrack trails, lull you right and then roll quite relaxed to the center of Stuttgart, where already the hot drink is waiting for you.

The Stuttgart Christmas market is one of the most beautiful in the republic and can not be overlooked: the roofs of the 300 stalls are all brightly lit with environmentally friendly LEDs. This market is spread over three places and has three Christmas trees. Maybe a good reason to order three mulled wines?

Planhütte Shelter

Highlight • Rest Area

The Planhaus refuge is ideal for a rest. Benches under cover and a large outdoor set that we used for a coffee break.

The park lakes Stuttgart (Bear Lake, Lake New and Pfaffensee) and the Bärenschlössle are a popular destination of the Stuttgart. Consideration is therefore a matter of course, especially in the summer. In winter, however, you will find it much easier to rest and enjoy the beauty of the winter landscape alone.

New Palace Stuttgart

Highlight • Castle

Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg (1744–1793) commissioned the New Palace in the heart of Stuttgart, the last great Baroque residential palace complex in Germany. It took several decades to complete. The palace was destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt between 1958 and 1964. Today, the state government uses the central section of the New Palace for official receptions and events. The Ministry of Finance and Economics is located in the side wings. The lawns in front of the palace are a wonderful place to relax in the summer.

Tip:
The Roman Lapidarium, an important collection of provincial Roman stone monuments, is housed in the vaulted cellars of the New Palace.
