The website visitbrabant.com, with its cycling tours, inspired me to visit this region. The scenery isn't as spectacular as the national parks, but it certainly has some interesting stops. Even the towns I visited aren't exactly top-notch tourists. At Van Gogh World in Nuenen, you can learn a lot about Van Gogh's time in Brabant. There was a German-language audio guide that provided interesting information at numerous exhibits. The only thing you won't find there is an original work by Van Gogh.
The Van Gogh Route 🚴🏻♂️ 🖼️ in Nuenen. Imagine cycling through a painting by Vincent van Gogh, among historic buildings, monuments and landscapes that inspired his genius. On this road, you will cycle where Van Gogh himself once walked. Every now and then you can get off your bike right in the places where he stopped, observing and painting the world around him. Our route starts at the Camper Area Croy 🚐, a stone's throw from Lieshout, and runs along country roads 🐄 and cycle paths through the woods 🌳 to Nuenen. Here you must stop at the Van Gogh Village Museum 🏢, which tells the life and works of Van Gogh. Inside you can immerse yourself in his story, while outside, in the streets of Nuenen, you will find yourself pedaling in the places where Vincent lived, where he had his studio 👨🏻🎨, where his beloved 💃🏼 lived, where he attended church 🕍 and where one of his most famous masterpieces, the Potato Eaters 🥔, was painted. The route then winds along the Wilhelmina Canal 🚢 to Lieshout, where we relaxed at the Bavaria Biergarten 🍺, for a break, before returning to the base.
Every year I go out with Eef and Stanley, my once ex and the ex-husband of my now deceased sister. We've known each other for 49 years!
