Colors, scents, and endless flower fields: Enjoy the Flowers is a feast for your senses. In spring, you cycle past vast fields full of blooming daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips. In summer and autumn, the dahlias take over, in all the colors of the rainbow. Bring your camera, because you'll want to capture this.

The route winds through the heart of the Bollenstreek: Noordwijkerhout, Hillegom, Lisse, Voorhout, and back to Noordwijk. Along the way, you'll discover familiar and hidden gems. Climb the Tespelduyn viewpoint for a panoramic view over the fields. Dive into the world of flower cultivation at Tulip Experience Amsterdam or stop at De Tulperij, where you can pick your own flowers. And of course, a short detour to the stately Kasteel Keukenhof should not be missed.

This route is perfect for a relaxing day full of color, scent, and wonder. Whether you come for a leisurely ride or a full day of flower enjoyment: this is the Bollenstreek at its best.

The blooming period roughly runs from mid-March to early May. The exact timing depends on the weather.

The White Church of Noordwijkerhout

Highlight • Religious Site

The White Church is a white church building on the Dorpsstraat in the Dutch town of Noordwijkerhout. The building has the status of a national monument.

The church was built around 1300 in Romanesque style. The Catholic parish church was dedicated to the holy apostles Peter and Paul. In 1508 a Gothic choir was added and the tower was raised by one floor. During the Siege of Leiden, the church was set on fire. Until 1620 there was only a ruin. In that year the wrecked ship was repaired and used by the Protestants. The tower has been owned by the civil municipality since French times.

The organ dates from 1841 and was made by organ builder Lohman.

A great bike ride through numerous colorful flower fields – truly impressive! I'd skip the detour through Lisse next time, though: The area around Keukenhof is very busy, both with cars and cyclists. Hillegom isn't necessarily a must-see either. Unfortunately, from Voorhout onward, you mostly cycle along the road. Reminder to myself: Next time, it's better to choose the paths …
