Trail Reviews

Beautiful little hike through the orchards and vineyards above Heidenheim with a view of the Rhine and Eltville 🫶☀️

A beautiful new hike through the Heidesheim dune sands with views of the Rheingau. I highly recommend a short rest at the 7 ponds.

Okay. Officially, the trail no longer exists. But we retraced it today. Our highlight today was definitely two hoopoes sunbathing on a sandy path. Unfortunately, we didn't take a photo. We didn't want to scare these two rare birds away. The highway noise is a negative, but only on a small part of the route: at the so-called Rheingoldruhe. We started at Heidesheim Town Hall. We walked along the moat and past the castle. Afterward, we left Heidesheim and hiked through a beautiful sunken lane. Green meadows, fruit trees, and views of the Rheingau region awaited us. After about 5 kilometers, we reached the 7 ponds. Truly idyllic here. Before we made our way back through the forest.

A beautiful round tour: in the east of Heidesheim, the vineyards arch slightly uphill and along the "Höllenberg" you have a wonderful view of the Rabenkopf over Heidesheim and beyond to the Germania. To the north you can enjoy a clear view of the entire Rheingau. The short hike then leads along the idyllic 7 ponds through the forest and along the typical sandy paths back to Heidesheim. A wonderful piece of Rheinhessen
