Gravel riding

A highlight awaits you right at the start in Andelsbuch: The Werkraum Bregenzerwald (Bregenzerwald Workroom) – an architecturally fascinating center for crafts and design – is worth a quick visit.

Afterward, hop into the saddle and roll gently downhill on the bike path to Egg. This is where the most beautiful section of the tour begins: You follow the former route of the Wälderbähnle (Wälderbähnle) along the Bregenzer Ach (Bregenzer Ach) – surrounded by lush greenery, with gravel beneath your tires and the sound of the river in your ears.

Then, the sporty part of the tour awaits: From Lingenau, you climb via Langenegg up to the Rotenberg – around 400 meters in altitude, with magnificent views of the rolling hills of the Vorderer Bregenzerwald and the peaks of the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park. A short detour to the Falbagraben Waterfall is worthwhile to dip your face in the cool spray. The rapid descent back to Egg gives you time to catch your breath before a final, short and steep climb to Andelsbuch.

Werkraum Bregenzerwald

Highlight • Monument

The most striking building in Andelsbuch is certainly the Werkraumhaus, which opened in 2013 and was designed by the Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. The hall-like building serves as an exhibition space, gathering place and as a window for the craft culture in the Bregenzerwald.

Opening times: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
