The last ice age formed this unique landscape with the high moor, the mixed beech forests and various lakes. We start our hike in the small town of Salem. The Salemer Moor offers a lot of peace and numerous rare plant species. Unfortunately also many hungry mosquitoes. It continues wildly romantic, past the Plötschersee and the Schwarzen Kuhle. Here we walk on forest paths close to the water and enjoy many views of the lakes. https://youtu.be/KBNqQ437fuA
It's raining 🌧, but Lübeck in the rain? No, with our decision mit for the moor we were exactly right. We went about 80% of the hike, well protected by the dense forest. The raindrops drummed on the leaves and threw their rings into the water, but most of it passed us by at first. With the overcast cloudy sky, the rain also creates a very special, wild and romantic atmosphere in this overgrown forest, similar to that of a primeval forest. The NSG Salemer Moor and the adjacent Garrenseerinne still give an idea of the tremendous forces with which the last Ice Age formed this unique natural landscape with lakes, gullies, moraine ridges and moors. Right at the beginning we observe a small fox family again today. But although the area is known as the habitat of many special animals, it is very striking that we do not meet any of them today. (uh ... mosquito repellent must be!) Not a single person comes across us 🤭. Today, too, pure enjoyment for all the senses! ! !
The visit to the café was a nice end to the tour
With summery temperatures we mainly wanted to move in the wooded area. However, countless mosquitoes were happy about our visit. Nevertheless, it was a varied tour with circuits around the Plötschersee and Garrensee. At the end of the day, we rewarded ourselves with a delicious cake at Spargelhof Kaiser in Salem, and we took fresh asparagus and ham home with us for dinner. In the Garrensee, the first swimmers have already tested the still a little cool water
We saw little of the moor.😔 It was more of a nice forest tour 🌳🍂with two lakes.😆 At Plötscher See you go up on the slope and can catch a glimpse here and there 👀through the dense beech forest🌳. The hiking trail around the Garrensee goes along the overgrown shore. The lake has two small bays and is beautifully turquoise. A guy from the brand of young Almöhi came on his bike 🚲 and took a short bath🏊♂️ in the cold, clear lake. His cheering🥶 echoed through the silent forest.😆 Of course, we also climbed the small observation tower at the Kranichrastplatz🦩. It would have been too nice if a flock of birds had been there at that very moment The nature of the paths was not one of our favorites😐: mainly wide pebble gravel paths that were covered with leaves at this time of the year. Amazingly, the trees 🌳 mostly not yet in the autumn moult and still showed lush spring green Thanks to Manni for presenting this tour😙
Unspectacular but nevertheless nice hike through the lake and moor area southeast of Ratzeburg. The only downside: mosquitoes!!!
