This VGN tour was actually planned for August / September, this Sunday it finally worked. For me, very early in the morning we took the first train at 7:38 a.m. to Ebelsbach-Eltmann and started there shortly before 9 a.m. After all, there were a good 19 km of route hike, with a number of culinary and scenic highlights. The VGN Flyer divides the tour into 3 stages, which fit hikers can easily walk in one go. Funnily enough, at the very first highlight, the Alte Schlosssteige which leads up to the Wallburg with 365 steps, I surprisingly met a friend from my Nuremberg fitness temple - again an indication that the world itself is a village. After we had huffed up the steps, we would have liked to see the tower - but unfortunately no flag was waving on the Wallburg to signal that the bar was open or that it was open. Whether the tower attendant was still sleeping ??? * gg * It goes via Weisbrunn and a beautiful old path with wayside shrines and fruit trees to Trossenfurt with great views. We already knew that the Roppels beer cellar does not open until 4 p.m. We would not have wanted to have the delicious lager that early, we just kept collecting chestnuts and poking around - it looks quaint under the trees. http://www.brauereirendung.de/ We took plenty of time for the rest of the stage to Fatschenbrunn, because our personal, culinary highlight - the Nico Scholtens winery - recommended by Gault Millau 2021 - does not open until 2 p.m. Long break at the dreamy fish pond, photographing flowers, taking time for the great fern-lined root path of the cultural path alternative, just don't talk, just walk. The flyer has a lot to say about the little village of Fatschenbrunn - from Hutzeln, the old traditional craft, to the paradise garden of Nico Scholten's wife Salome, an artist in the garden and kitchen. First of all: I've never had such a good cheesecake and espresso in the middle of a garden dream that you have to see for yourself. In addition to high-quality wine, coffee specialties and lots of cheese are served on plates that are small works of art in themselves. I like to leave a beer for that. https://www.weingut-scholtens.com/ In view of the announced rain (which never came), we quickly made our way to the destination of our hike to the Fabrikschleichach via the Steinknuck and Glashütte Käpella trekking area "- it was good that we stopped there beforehand, because both Cafe Ton and the glassworks were closed (the GöGa was happy because women never have enough bowls and cups). My photographic luck was then a pink sunflower. As so often before, the Börner was the bus driver of the "Beer and Wine Express" who greeted us with a big grin and also took a break in the journey by parking offenders so easily that everyone could still catch their train in Haßfurt. The VGN leisure lines run until November 1st - so start again, because in autumn the Steigerwald shows itself in the most beautiful colors. Nice cheesecake, wine, forest, garden, landscape, nice conversations in Salome's garden, standing KO, but Happy - that's how it has to be!
