The railway that connected Cortina d'Ampezzo and Pieve di Cadore was born in 1916, for war reasons. In 1964 the entire railway was dismantled, but the old customs house is still present.

September 6, 2023, Fahrradtour 23/53 Dolomiten von Toblach nach Calalzo di Cadore

Today it is 68 km and 740 meters in altitude. We start in Toblach but it wasn't until I reached Dürensee that I realized that I hadn't started the recording. The route went through a breathtaking landscape in wonderfully beautiful weather. Due to the landscape, the route wasn't paved all the way through, but you do need a bit of a challenge.

Day 4 tour extended to day 5 .... panoramic tour ... wonderful .... let the pictures do the talking from the prospectus: Day 4: Bike tour on the Dolomite bike path (approx. 55 km) After breakfast we take the bus to the Höhlensteintal. At Passo Cimabanche, in the province of Belluno, we start our cycle tour on the Dolomite cycle path. On the former route of the narrow-gauge railway we cycle on gravelly ground through the wild and romantic valley. The mighty Dolomite peaks of Monte Cristallo and the mountains of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park rise on both sides. We soon reach the well-known winter sports resort of Cortina d`Ampezzo. At lunchtime, a delicious lunchtime snack awaits us again. On the former railway line we now cycle slightly downhill along the Sorapis massif and the Cinque Torri rock formation through the Cadore valley to Lago di Cadore. Here we end our bike tour and take the bus back to the hotel. Dinner.

Started in cool temperatures, at 1650 m above sea level, the Dolomites could not be seen behind the clouds at first. In the afternoon the sun 🌞 finally came out. The tour is only downhill. The first kilometers, until just before Cortina d'Ampezzo, are gravel, but passable.

Day 3: Cimabanche - Cortina d´Ampezzo - Cadore, approx. 50 km Transfer to Passo Cimabanche. There we start our most beautiful tour. The bikes roll through magnificent mountain landscapes in the footsteps of the Lunga Via delle Dolomiti (Long Path in the Dolomites). We follow this old Dolomite railway route down to Cortina d`Ampezzo and on to Lago di Pieve di Cadore, where we load our bikes again and drive to our hotel.

From Pieve die Cadore via Cortina d'Ampezzo to South Tyrol. The great Dolomites cycle path is without doubt the highlight of the tour so far! A former railway line converted into a complete cycle path through a spectacular landscape. It doesn't get any better than this!👍👍👍🚴🏼🚴‍♀️🏔️

Oh, the sun, the morning kisses us with it, and apart from a small shower, we're blessed with sunshine the whole way today. We leave the Olympic village of Cortina d'Ampezzo and follow an adventure trail. We drift through beautiful forests. We stop for lunch in a small village and enjoy the mountains, the lake, and the sun. We simply enjoy rolling for the most part.
