This is one of the most peaceful routes you can take in Tenerife, both due to the type of roads and the terrain. Its nearly 70 kilometers climb a little over 1,100 meters in altitude. Very moderate elevation gains, ideal for a day of easy cycling.
The route starts at a public parking lot in Costa Adeje and initially runs along stretches of coastline between tourist developments, banana plantations, and fishing ports with a traditional atmosphere. It also allows you to appreciate the island's most arid landscape while offering majestic views of Mount Teide on clear days.
Upon reaching El Médano, the ascent to Granadilla de Abona begins along quiet roads. As you gain altitude, the views of the sea begin to unfold, and, weather permitting, you'll be able to see Gran Canaria or La Gomera emerge from the ocean.
Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to stop in mid-mountain villages brimming with traditional architecture and local cuisine.
Remember to bring swimwear because on warm or hot days, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get into the water. It's also recommended that you bring sunscreen because shade is scarce.
On the way back to Costa Adeje, there's also plenty to recharge your batteries.
