The Greina – one-day alpine bus route

Early in the morning, the alpine bus takes you from Vrin to the remote Parvalsauns – your starting point for an extraordinary day hike. Even on the ascent to the Diesrut Pass, you'll feel the tranquility of the high alpine landscape. Once at the top, the view opens up over the vast Greina Plain – a moment that will stay with you forever.

You cross the plain and walk past meandering streams, through the secluded Val Canal, and over the Greina Pass. At the Greina Pass, the view finally opens up towards Ticino. Shortly after, you reach the Capanna Scaletta, a spectacularly situated rest area high above the valley.

The final section takes you down a steep descent to Pian Geirett, where the alpine bus is waiting. Important: The early bus from Vrin (7:36 a.m.) only runs from July to early August. If you arrive later, you'll need to be in good physical shape to complete the hike within the timeframe. But if you are ready for a long, impressive day of hiking, you can experience the Greina, one of the most beautiful high valleys in Switzerland – in one day.
