This route was planned by komoot.
Today was hike number 9 in our Facebook group with 21 enthusiastic hikers who were not deterred by the rain at the beginning. We had adapted the tour to the weather and shortened it a bit. The good mood was unbroken, so hiking is fun even in this weather. The paths were easy to walk on, there was little mud along the way. At the end of the hike we stopped at the Vedder restaurant to warm up, have a bite to eat and drink and chat. It was really fun again today. Thanks to Frank, who was in charge of organizing it.
Today, I hiked the next Volmeschatz from the Piene hiking car park. There were magnificent views along the way. The trail descended to Stottmert and then immediately climbed steeply again toward Vedder. It was a few more meters of elevation through the Böllenberg, of which unfortunately not much remains now, to the Sauerlandbank at the finish. A well-deserved break with coffee and cake and another fantastic view toward Herscheid.
According to legend, a dog was condemned to be a child murderer. A curse weighs on the dog. As a distinguishing mark, the dog wears a glowing red necklace of cursed stones around its neck. Even today, the cursed dog wanders the area. Four silver boxes contain the dog's secret. They are located along the approximately eight-kilometer-long A2 circular hiking trail, which starts at the Piener Kopf hiking car park near Herscheid. It leads through forest and meadow, between two dams, to the lookout point above the Volme River. Once all tasks have been completed, the dog is given a name by the hiker and released. We named him LUCKY 🫶
Starting at the Piene parking lot, we continued on the trail of the Fluchstein Loop. With views of the Fürwiggetalsperre and Versetalsperre dams, we made a quick stop for a cold drink in Stottmert and then continued toward Holte. A slightly modified version of the original route led us past the ponds and up the path to the Piene River. It was quite chilly today.

This circular trail is as much a hike as it is an adventure game, as you can open various chests along the way, containing puzzles. If you solve them, you can free Dürholten's hound from the cursed stones. This exciting game will keep young hikers entertained and even includes audio play elements.
