The second MTB day was again full of madness in a positive sense. An estimated 200 bikers were out on the Klammljoch and Arventalalm. With and without electricity. We rounded off the tour with a leisurely stop at the Jagdhaus Alm.
To conclude our East Tyrol trilogy, the breathtaking tour from Brunnach to Klammljoch in glorious weather 👍💯 with refreshments at the famous Jagdhausalm 😋🍻. Pure nature – everyone should see it at least once, absolutely recommended 😃👍
Goodbye, Instead of walking, we cycled from our accommodation Gasthof Edelweiß, which by the way is really awesome, up to the Klammlsee. After just a few meters, we crossed the Schwarzach bridge at the end of the town, always following the signposted forest paths to the Erlsbach Patsch car park. From there it goes on well-developed forest paths along the Schwarzach to the Arvental, past the alpine inns Patsch*, Oberhaus, Seebachalm, Jagdhausalm* to the Arvental Alm* (*were served). From the Arvental Alm it is another 15 minutes. up to the Klammlsee, which is already in Italy. A demanding but rewarding tour with many small highlights such as the Jagdhausalm.
We've arrived in St. Jakob in the Defereggen Valley. I've been here in winter before – the last time was 38 years ago 😄 A lot has changed. The Hohe Tauern National Park is partly located in East Tyrol and offers unique landscapes. We cycle into the upper Defereggen Valley to the Klammjoch, the border to South Tyrol, at 2265m. Countless streams, waterfalls, the 275-hectare Swiss stone pine forest, and the Jagdhausalm, first mentioned in 1212, lie along the way. 3000-meter peaks around us and the expansive high alpine pastures at over 2000m are further highlights. Two things weren't so great – since the alpine pastures belong to South Tyrol for historical reasons, they wind their 🛻🚗🚛 through the nature reserve to the last corner. And the huts are packed on Sundays 😬 Carbohydrates ☕🍰🍮 are available down in the valley at the Zollwirt 🤷🏻♂️
From St. Jakob, we followed the Defereggental cycle path to the Klammljoch. Then we stopped off at the Jagdhausalm on the way down. It couldn't be more kitsch: the entire valley is blooming in all colors, the sun is shining, and there are very few people around. Actually, perfect... BUT: you keep waiting for Heidi and her grandfather to emerge from behind the bushes and start singing "Hollaretulliöhhh" 😜
MTB tour from St. Jakob in Defereggental to the Jagdhausalmen. These are the oldest alpine pastures in Austria. The Jagdhausalmen (2009m), 15 stone houses and a church are very similar to a Tibetan village. The trip to the Klammeljoch (2288m) had to be aborted due to too much snow.
Today we went to the Jagdhausalm, we don't really know how to describe the tour, other than dreamlike, beautiful with every superlative you can think of! Amazing!!!!!! Always along the Schwarzach river at 2055 m above sea level through a heavenly valley, with lots of marmots🥰 ! We arrived in Little Tibet, as it is affectionately called, which was first mentioned in documents in 1212 and is therefore one of the oldest alpine pastures!! Of course we also walked up to the Pfauenauge. Whoever is reading this and is nearby, do this tour, you have rarely seen anything so beautiful!!!!
