The Dümmerdeich hiking trail leads you along a varied route through charming villages around Lake Dümmer. The entire tour can be divided into stages, allowing you to comfortably hike from village to village:

From Lembruch to Hüde: approximately 3.5 kilometers

From Hüde to the Hunte Bridge: around 5 kilometers

From the Hunte Bridge to Dümmerlohausen/Olgahafen: approximately 4 kilometers

From Dümmerlohausen/Olgahafen to the Lohne Weir: approximately 4.5 kilometers

In addition to the four observation towers around the Dümmer, another tower was added in 2018. It stands directly on the water's edge and offers a beautiful view of the lake. From here, new insights into the north bay, which is part of the Dümmer nature reserve, emerge.

Hunte Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The diverse Hunte River rises in the Wiehen Hills, flows through Lake Dümmer, passes through the Wildeshausen Geest Nature Park towards Oldenburg, and empties into the Weser River northwest of Bremen.

It flows through a hilly landscape shaped by the Ice Age: pine and oak forests provide shade for canoeists on the water; heathlands and sandy beaches, fields and lush meadows border the romantic river scenery. One of the most exciting ways to experience the charm of these landscapes is by canoeing.

Hello everyone 🙂 Today it was about the fool, with a short detour to the Ochsenmoor. It's good that I did the round today, because the wind gave the surfers 🏄‍♂️ optimal conditions and the hikers fewer pests 😉 I really liked the further detour into the natural garden. Coming from OS, you can also start your tour there, since you can park your car there. You can see everything else in the photos. A nice round, I think.

Varied tour, gone with the wind. The round was great for the weather. It goes around once, always along the dike. The hiking trail on the south bank is the absolute highlight and leads through a nature reserve. Dogs on a leash are allowed. The west bank looks a bit like a park. But you can only see the lake a little. From here, mainly bicycles are on the move. At the Olgahafen there is a super delicious and inexpensive snack bar, at the same time also a café, highly recommended. It continues with a view of the moor and lake towards the populated east bank. After a few holiday home settlements it gets full and there are endless places to stop for refreshments. At Hunte it's a bit more relaxed and seen from the outside the cooler bars. Since we were about to return, we decided against an interior view. Great tour with almost no shade.

The round started and ended at Lukas Hofcafé. Highly recommended, best to reserve in advance for breakfast. (As of 7/2024).

With great weather we started today to the Dümmer See. Parked in Hüde and then to Lehmbruch. From there on to Dümmerlohhausen and further around the lake back to Hüde

On the third Sunday in Advent I borrowed my parents' car to drive to Lembruch and hike around the Dümmer from there 😁 Seeing something different than your own 'four walls', i.e. the surroundings at home, was a nice change. The weather wasn't that nice, but drizzle and sleet couldn't stop us from hiking. And the advantage of such bad weather is that fewer people are out and about, so you have more peace and quiet. Right at the beginning of the round we met other dog people and fur noses and Steini was able to let off steam with the others. Some time later we were alone at the dog beach and apparently Steini was too cold to really go swimming, feet and drink yes, the rest no thanks 😅 On well-developed paths we continued with sometimes more or sometimes less view of the Dümmer. We took a short break at each of the four lookout towers because it was too cold for long breaks. A few birds could be seen, various ducks and geese, seagulls, egrets, cormorants and many smaller species of birds staying in the reeds and along the banks. And apparently there is always a lot going on along the way, because Steini's nose was often sniffing around intensively along the way 😊 I once wrote a canoe day on the Dümmer in summer on my to-do list for next year!

Nice round and if some cyclists would also be considerate, it would be even nicer.

A storm-free house means... get outside early! Departure at 6 a.m. to get around the Dümmer before the crowds. The right decision, as it got crowded over the course of the morning. Or: Doing is better than wanting ;-) That was Iron Lake number three for me today, and I can happily continue. The tour is once again a colorful mix of lake and wetland with a large number of bird species. Kingfisher sightings are regularly reported online. A definite hiking recommendation from me :-)

Once around the fool, when the cranes pull, that was the plan and today it worked. Unfortunately, the 🌞 came out late. But better late than never! I liked the dirt road section from Hüde to Olgahafen the best. Here the cyclists ride on other routes (nothing against 🚲, I ride too, but as a 🥾🥾 woman also wants to dream and not be rang out of the way). In any case, there were plenty of cranes to be heard and smaller swarms to be seen too 👍!
