A cool experience for adventure seekers is the circular hike through the Groppenstein Gorge in Obervellach. Along wooden walkways and over bridges, you'll hike alongside the rushing, white Mallnitzbach stream to spectacular waterfalls up to 30 meters high and deep into the gorge, which is only a few meters wide in places. The finale is a magnificent view of a castle that is over 700 years old.

Sturdy footwear and surefootedness are required for this hike. If you're planning the tour as a family outing, the children should be old enough to hike independently and with a sense of risk. Impressive waterfalls could be seen.
You could also take dogs here and this gorge is also easy to manage with small children.
