https://www.ich-geh-wandern.de/muehlenweg-deudesfeld-durchs-schoene-salmtal "Anyone who understands a hike as a natural path that is not stingy with ascents and descents has found it here. The scenic side is characterized by variety and can be explored extensively over a total of around 15.5 kilometers. The actual focus of this tour in the Vulkaneifel is somewhere else, as can be clearly seen from the name "Mühlenweg Deudesfeld". It also shows where the excursion begins, namely in Deudesfeld at the Hotel zur Post. There it is possible to park the car, if this is the means of arrival, and of course to stay overnight. Alternatively, bus and train serve this purpose. The letters "MW" show us where to go - and that's a steep climb at first. Since it won't stay that way alone, it's worth taking a backpack that's not too heavy, but still filled with enough provisions. Turned around at the top, the view can wander over Deudesfeld. After two kilometers there is already a stop at the Binsenmühle, which intones the motif of the path. Furthermore, the compass rose ranch, which houses horses, adorns this fabric. Especially since the path continues through the thicket of the forest and along the course of the Salm, the cozy ambience can give you the feeling of walking through a fairy tale. A journeyman may feel like Hans in luck as he moves from mill to mill. Accordingly, bread, cheese and sausage can be unpacked in between and enjoyed on wooden benches in the countryside. The parish churches of Weidenbach and Meisburg can also draw the imagination in this direction. The route, on the other hand, often runs with and to the water, such as the Dümpelsbach, Schafbach and Lohsalm. Among the historical buildings that are located there, the cutting mill stands out - or rather cuts out - as it represents the last sawmill in Rhineland-Palatinate that is powered by water power. Through the Salmtal it goes back to the starting point in Deudesfeld, where you can enjoy a hearty meal. If time permits, a longer stay also creates the opportunity to explore additional hiking trails in the area."
