https://youtu.be/BAXeBAqjhoE Time to hike into the Eifel again.
Nice round, but actually too hot today. Mürmes is always worth a visit. Very nice stop in the beer garden in the Janshen poultry farm in Ellscheid and then swimming in the Schalkenmehrener Maar
A tour with lots of views but also sections in/near the forest. The wind blew hard around our ears where there were no trees. The renaturation area was particularly beautiful. Apart from a few "long stretches", the path was beautiful. There were no real highlights in our opinion. Conclusion: You can do it, but you don't have to.
Relaxed tour with refreshments. No major climbs, many beautiful views.
Today we went on a home track, the Antoniusweg around Ellscheid and the Mürmes nature reserve. The path itself is not very spectacular, but offers some beautiful views of the Eifel landscape and is very inviting for relaxed hiking. With the Maarmoor Mürmes, the renaturation project Mittelweiher, the sparse mixed forests and the Ellscheid windows you get pure enjoyment of nature. Well signposted, well-kept path
https://www.ich-geh-wandern.de/heimatspur-antoniusweg-ins-naturreservation-muermes "On this route we move around the sleepy municipality of Ellscheid in the Vulkaneifel, which invites you to hike with a landscape that is worth seeing and characterized by different elements. With some heights, which sometimes go up and sometimes down, a certain level of fitness is also required. With a length of almost twelve kilometers, the difficulty of this home track is kept within limits - especially since a number of the pretty natural sites tempt you to take a break in between. Therefore, the provisions should not be missing in the luggage. There is also a restaurant along the path, but of course the background is much more picturesque outdoors. Nevertheless, the start and end point are in Ellscheid at the community center, where you can park your car and travel by public transport. Bronze figures, including a farmer with pigs, greet hikers before they set off into the countryside. The marking "AN" shows the direction, which first leads out of the village at the country inn. Fields and grassy areas accompany you across a backdrop that doesn't let you look deep, but far away. Viewpoints present, among other things, the dry maar in the south or simply the settlement from afar - and provide the right frame with a free-standing window. Then we find ourselves in a dense forest; the path obeys the laws of the network, rippling here and there, up and down. A cozy atmosphere can still spread, at the latest along the course of the Mürmesbach in the southwest. It is often worthwhile to linger on this section. Finally, the Mürmes nature reserve is reached, which turns out to be a swampy area with plenty of water. Regardless of the course of the route, a circumnavigation of this homeland offers countless animals and plants. Attentive observers have the opportunity, for example, to spot birds such as lapwings or meadow pipers. Otherwise, the tour continues along the water to the town of Saxler and then in a wide arc back to the starting point. Several landscape motifs are mixed up again, which is why a leisurely pace and open eyes pay off." Directions by car: 50°09'00.6"N 6°54'54.4"E
www.bewegunghilft.de What a nice round! Lots of great places to take a break. Great views! NSG Mürmes the highlight! In between I thought I would be blown away....🌬 There are 80 maars in the Vulkaneifel, 10 are filled with water, some have become moors, such as the Mürmes, the rest are dry maars.
The Vulkan Eifel is always worth a hike! Picturesque landscape and an indescribably beautiful view 🍄🏵️☀️. Nice to walk, so let's go 😽
