The Great Järnforsen Trail is a true insider tip for all hikers who want to experience Sweden's untouched nature. The route leads through a dense, mystical forest that immediately reminded me of the world of Ronja the Robber's Daughter. The tall trees, stretching their branches toward the sky like arms, and the soft, moss-covered ground beneath my feet created an atmosphere that transported me to Astrid Lindgren's world. Only the gnomes were missing to complete the picture, or perhaps those are the large, round boulders scattered throughout the forest?! The trail itself is well-marked and leads through breathtaking scenery. The waterfalls and rapids of Järnforsen are a highlight of the route, but all the ferns and moss lichens, the gorge, the lakes, and the intensity of the play of colors also leave me in awe and admire the magnificent and absolutely peaceful nature.
