This route was planned by komoot.
"The glaciated Snøhetta is the highest peak in Dovrefell National Park and Norway's highest peak outside of the Jotunheimen Mountains. The majestic "snow cap" towers 1675 m above the surrounding area and was considered the highest peak in the country until the mid-19th century. Unlike the peaks in Jotunheimen, which are comparatively close together, there is no mountain within a radius of 82 km that is even remotely as high - the view is correspondingly extensive." That's what it says in the Rother hiking guide. Sounds great, doesn't it?! Nevertheless, this hike was not mine at all. The personal synopsis is "boring, exhausting and oddly dangerous, especially for the tapes". For hours you twirl higher and higher over the oversized heap of stones, with the summit tower in sight for a long time and constantly hoping that the boulders don't tip over so badly that you lose your balance and tear a ligament. The fact that the starting point can only be reached by bus and that one is therefore always on the move in a huge cluster of mountaineers has not exactly increased my enthusiasm after the lonely hikes of the past few days. 😉 The highlight of the tour are several musk oxen that we see from the bus on the way to our starting point. Class!
