Hiking

This loop is an open-air museum. The route takes you up close to history, notably passing by the Schoenenbourg fortification. This former defensive structure is so well preserved that it keeps our duty to remember intact. Around it, you can also follow the signs that lead to various strategic locations. You'll pass by old cannon positions, tank domes, and bunkers.

The tour is relatively long, especially considering the many historical sites that deserve your full attention. It's also important to know that you'll have several opportunities along the way to enjoy Alsatian cuisine, notably at Schoenenbourg but also at the Maginot Line restaurant.

The departure point is at Soultz-sous-Forêts train station. You can reach it by train via direct lines from Wissembourg or Strasbourg. Soultz is also worth spending some time there, so why not plan your visit over a weekend?
