The tour started very nicely (although the first almost 8km were very asphalt-heavy) through the vineyards, where the winegrowers had already started with the first work. Then it goes into the forest and unfortunately becomes very gloomy, gray and unspectacular. Only the fact that you are traveling in a historically significant area, partly along the Maginot Line, makes it somewhat interesting. Not even some bunkers and trenches in the Hochwald can make up for the boring (and also totally muddy) paths. Only the last 3-4km through the forest on narrow paths becomes nicer again. Moreover, the sun had finally shown itself properly.
