Adventure and time out at Lake Altmühlsee | Tour 210

The Altmühlsee is a reservoir in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen in Bavarian Middle Franconia. It was built from 1976 to 1985 as part of a water regulation system and, along with several other lakes, belongs to the Franconian Lake District.

Beautiful circular route right along the lake - everything was there 😍

Today there was really everything from sleet to sunshine - and always an ice-cold wind. But this way you really have the Altmühlsee all to yourself ;-)

🚀 Let's start at the Wald-Seezentrum am Altmühlsee at ⛅️ +18° Celsius towards the southeast. Today 🔄 we circle the Altmühlsee in the opposite ⏰ clockwise direction. First 🥾🥾 we hike along the south bank to Gunzenhausen and circle the small ⛵️⛵️⛵️ marina. Mmmhhh, a delicious smell of grilled steaks blows around our noses 🤪 Short stop at the Altmühlsee Café and to celebrate the day there is steak with potato salad. Well 💪🏼 strengthened we continue our 🥾🥾 hike on the north bank. At Muhr am See we cross over to the 🦅🕊🦆 bird island. The bird sanctuary in the shallow water is a real insider tip. It's not just for ornithologists. We leave the bird paradise again over a wooden bridge and walk around the lake to Streudorf, where we then hike back on the south bank to the starting point Wald-Seezentrum 🥾🥾. A long-planned tour from my "to do list". All the way around the Altmühlsee. This morning I set off at 7 a.m. by train (D-Ticket)🚉. The 2-hour train ride was over quickly☺️ and so I started the tour at around 9:15 a.m. There was little shade along the route and the sun 🌞 was burning down. Lots of benches invited me to take a rest. Unfortunately, the route around the lake was a bit monotonous for me, as you are currently not allowed to swim 🏊‍♂️ due to blue-green algae. So I took the bikini 👙 with me for nothing and I didn't dare to use the magic towel to dip into the algae-covered, green water. The bird island 🐦🦆🦢 was the most interesting thing for me today. So I sweated 🥵 my way to the lido and took a longer break there. Now I have about 2 hours to go back

Hiked around the Altmühlsee today. We started shortly after 8 when the temperatures were still pleasant 😁. There are still shady sections on the west side of the lake. There were also a lot of cyclists on the road, but not so many hikers. (Today is the last day of vacation in Bavaria.) When I moved to the east side it got noticeably warmer ☀️🥵. Since the kiosks weren't open yet, the small backpack snack had to be used. Otherwise a pleasant round.

In beautiful sunshine we circled the Altmühlsee today. The most beautiful highlight of this tour was the bird island.

Topfeben with a paved path all around. Ideal for a fast lap where the volume of traffic (felt 80% with an electric motor) could slow you down.
