Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza Waterfalls

Highlight • Waterfall

This waterfall is made up of three other cascades, flowing from the Five Lakes. The name "Wodogrzmoty" (although sometimes these waterfalls are simply called Mickiewicz Waterfalls) comes from the fact that the water makes a terrible roar as it falls (and it's cool).

Włosienica Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

Here (thankfully) the "horse transport" ends, and the only way to continue is on foot.

You also have a WONDERFUL view of the Tatra Mountains!

A few meters further on, you can fortify yourself in a bar or bistro. Very tasty!

Morskie Oko Mountain Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The lake shore in front of the hut is literally overcrowded on weekends and holidays.

Black Lake below Rysy

Highlight • Lake

A steep climb from Morskie Oko and you are at the extraordinary Czarny Staw. Similarly to Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy, the "black" here is from the shadows cast on the water by the mountains and the cyanobacteria that occurs here.

Since it is below Rysy, you can see Rysy, but Kazalnica, Mięguszowiecki Szczyt Czarny and Wołowy Grzbiet - there is something to see.

Rysy Summit

Highlight • Summit

The Rysy has 3 peaks: two are in Slovakia, one in Poland. The highest of them (2504m) is in Slovakia. At 2499m, one of the other peaks is the highest mountain in Poland.

The many people (especially when the weather is hot and on weekends) are already a nuisance, but the magnificent view justifies the climb!

July 2, 2025,02.07.2025 Rysy: Zum höchsten Gipfel Polens 🇵🇱
I believe that, just as every Muslim should visit Mecca, every Pole should climb Rysy. At least, that's how it seems. You can see everything here: young and old, experienced mountaineers and those who have never held a stone in their hands. Wearing perfect mountain gear, even barefoot.

Early September 2025. Beautiful tour, but definitely start early. Very busy. Arrived at the parking lot shortly after 5:00 a.m. Tatrzanzki Park Noradowy. We bought a parking ticket and an entrance ticket for the park beforehand on the park's website. So everything was super easy. The barrier opens automatically, we park the car, and we can go right away.

If someone has the strength and condition, and from the ticket offices, to Morskie Oko, to Czarny Staw pod Rysami and the return route is 20 km. Comfortable shoes are essential. I recommend turning right at Morskie Oko and then in an hour (with stops for photos) you will reach the Czarny Staw. The views during the hike are fabulous. …

The plans for that day were a bit different (we were supposed to go back through Świstowa Kopa to Wielki Staw Polski and from there along Roztoka), but in bad weather we decided to stop at Morskie Oko and the pond under Rysy. I have never been so close to the highest mountain in Poland, the trail to the summit …

Reinhold Messener once said the following about this path:

"Easy peasy and as busy as a Sunday shopping day in the city... but Kurwa matsch, it's so beautiful here😍"

And I can only agree😎

Super nice hike. A large part of the car park runs over asphalt, but the last 5km around the lakes in particular are over rubble and stones. Hiking shoes are definitely recommended for the most beautiful area. If you just want to take a quick look at the lake, all you need is sports shoes.

Today, for once, we were not on bikes but on foot in the smallest high mountain range in the world. Our goal was the Sea Eye and the Black Lake below the Rysy. You can only get there via a hiking route of around 12 km. You will be rewarded with a beautiful landscape that may resemble the Alps but …

A "must have" if you are going to the Tatra Mountains. However, you should start the hike at the car park by 10 a.m. at the latest, so that you can be back at the car park by 6 p.m. It begins on an 8 km tarred, closed road that climbs continuously. If necessary, you can take a horse-drawn cart …
