Today's tour took us along the "Nordpfad Ostetal" in fantastic winter weather. The entire "Ostetal with tributaries" nature reserve includes the lowland area of the Oste from Sittensen via Heeslingen, Godenstedt, Sandbostel and Minstedt to Bremervörde. Sections of the tributaries Kuhbach, Ohbeck, Röhrsbach, Knüllbach, Twiste and Bade with their geest edge areas are included. The waters are the meandering river course of the Oste and other mostly naturally meandering streams of its tributaries with typical floodplain structures. In some areas, moor and forest areas adjacent to the lowlands are included in the protected area. The diversely structured lowland areas, which are mainly characterized by gley soils, are mainly characterized by mowing or grazing use of varying intensity. Scattered throughout the grasslands are unused reed beds, tall herbaceous meadows, wet bushes and floodplain or moor forests. The forest areas on the edges of the geest and outside the lowlands consist largely of near-natural deciduous and mixed forests. In the moor areas, especially in the Voßmoor near Badenstedt and in parts of the Seedorf training area, open moor areas, wet heaths and moor forests dominate. In addition, individual larger bristle grass meadows can be found in the NSG in interlocking with dry heath areas and lean grasslands. Oops... And again it started too late for us. Pastime in the twilight: I pack my hiking backpack and take with me: my brother(!?), Dad's Komoot app and a headlamp. Good ideas ;-)
Put your shoes 👞 on and let's go. Untouched river landscape, steep slopes, riparian woodland and dense floodplain forests characterize one of the most beautiful and natural river valleys in northern Germany. -1 degrees feels like -5 degrees. 😃 but really beautiful.
A truly beautiful hike through a diverse landscape. Very well signposted, with some lovely spots to linger.
So, that was the second attempt to run to Ostetal. This time I didn't have to cancel the tour because of flooding. And today I had a companion with me. Was very nice.
After more than 3 days, Komoot managed to upload our tours from the weekend :-D On Saturday we made our way to the north path Ostetal early. When we arrived at the parking lot, we were the first. The hiking trail led us through the beautiful forest to the detour to the viewpoint Altarm Oste. This is due to animal welfare from 15.01.-15.07. blocked. It's a shame for us, good for the animals, we'll have to come back again. So we went straight to the grave mounds of Ober Ochtenhausen. We didn't meet anyone on the way, except for many mosquitoes, who seemed thirsty to wait for the first hikers. There is a nice resting place at the burial mounds, which we used for our breakfast. For dessert there was a round of Autan for once. Past meadows, fields, the Selzinger Bach and through a small, shady forest, the further hiking trail led us to the Ostebrücke Ober Ochtenhausen, from which we could get our first beautiful view of the Oste. There is also a rest area here and you can go down to the shore. About a kilometer further we came across the rest area "Tischlein deck dich". Here you can have a picnic delivered by changing local restaurateurs with a lead time of at least 7 days. I can think of this as an interesting offer, especially for groups. If the space is not occupied, however, you can also take a break. The view is beautiful! The next destination was the Huvenhoopsmoor nature reserve, which we only touched on the edge. A small, narrow path leads over a wooden bridge along the edge of a babbling brook, absolutely delightful. Through the forest and past mown meadows with bales of hay we reached the Alte Ostebrücke. This is really old and no longer accessible. If you want, you can go down a short hidden path to the shore. Soon afterwards we reached one of my two big highlights of this tour. A short detour leads from the north path to the private lake Seehürnsbarg. Fortunately, this is freely accessible. Here is a small hut with a resting place. If you walk a little further, you will find two benches and at the end a small old bridge. It was quiet and idyllic here. Apart from the chirping of birds and the occasional "blopp" when a fish briefly jumps out of the water, nothing was heard. Gorgeous! We continued through the Ostetal, past the Ostebrücke Granstedt, where there is another nice rest area, and then we took the detour over the Granstedt lake. Here a fantastically beautiful single trail leads through the forest, my second big highlight of this round. There are several possibilities for a break, often with a beautiful view, highly recommended! The Granstedter See is now almost dry in summer. The last goal of this round was then the shop window burial mound. Here you can look into the grave mound as if through a shop window. When the sun is shining, however, it is difficult to see anything. When we arrived at the parking lot, we drove to the starting point of the two mills north path. There is a connection path. But there was not enough time for this today. A really very recommendable round with beautiful paths through a very scenic area.
Together with the RTL Nord team and some hikers from my own hiking group, we went on the Ostetal north path. The report is expected to be broadcast on RTL Nord in September.
