Today, my boyfriend @Classic Man and I went to Bremervörde on the NORTH PATH Vördersee - Osteland in perfect spring weather. Since neither of us knew the area, we were all the more excited to explore the hiking trails around Bremervörde. And we had a truly wonderful time! For me, the theme of this NORTH PATH is definitely water. There's hardly a place where you're not near a river or lake. But that doesn't make it monotonous. Quite the opposite, the NORTH PATH is extremely diverse with its forests, meadows, and parklands. For a better overview, the circular route can be divided into three sections: a northern section, a southern section, and the town of Bremervörde, with Lake Vördersee and its harbor as the focal point of this tour. The northern section of the trail is characterized by beautiful views into the distance and the large dike on the Oste River. I was particularly fascinated by the imposing size of the Oste, which I remembered from Zeven as a small river through forests and meadows. Incidentally, the dike can also be used for hiking; it's accessible via small footholds over the fence. The southern section of the NORTH PATH gets truly wild. Beautiful singletrack trails lead along the Oste through rustic forest landscapes. Small clearings here repeatedly offer glimpses of the water. A truly dreamy section! The Vördersee, with the harbor of Bremervörde and the beautiful parks, are the heart of the NORTH PATH. You'll encounter the Vördersee a total of three times on the hike! Besides sculptures, the beach, and well-kept parks, there's plenty to discover here. I was particularly impressed by the backdrop of the Bachmann Museum and the magnificent views of the Vördersee on this section. Unfortunately, the paths around the lake and the harbor were very crowded today, so much so that people were literally stepping on each other's toes—to exaggerate a bit. The feeling of being "back in the wild" wasn't really there in this section, at least. But I'm not surprised by the number of people at the lake. After all, other people also want to enjoy Bremervörde's truly beautiful parks in the sunshine. If you combine all three sections, the NORDPFAD is a diverse hiking route with something for everyone. Although the NORDPFAD's route is confusing in some areas (you have to walk some sections twice) and was a bit crowded in places, I can still recommend the tour 👍. All information about the NORDPFAD Vördersee-Osteland can be found under the following link: https://www.nordwaerts.de/aktiv-entspannt/tour/nordpfad-voerder-see-osteland-100258939/ (as of April 26, 2025).
Today the last two northern trails were on my schedule. 🌲🚶♂️ I started at 7 a.m. at Vörder See in Bremervörde. 🌅 In light rain 🌧️ I hiked clockwise on the northern trail. For breakfast 🥐☕ I found a lookout tower by the lake. 🗼 In the late morning the rain also let up. 🌥️ A wonderful northern trail that I also want to hike in winter when there is snow ❄️. I was back at the starting point shortly after 12 p.m. ⏰ Then I went on to the second hike, very close by: NP Hinterholz and Hohenmoor. 🌳🌾
Definitely recommended! Very well signposted, impossible to get lost. The "smaller" circular route in particular leads through the forest with a jungle feel, but is hardly used anymore, given the vegetation and the fact that some of the paths are barely visible.
So far, one of the most beautiful northern trails we have hiked. Lots of beautiful, varied paths. We particularly liked the last third.
Today, I spontaneously decided to do another northern path - and what a path it was. I was absolutely thrilled - and not just because of the sun ☀️, which bravely fought its way through the fog 😶🌫️, but above all because of its exciting contrasts! This northern path could easily be divided into a longer and a shorter loop (if the length of the route or time requires it), a sunny and a shady section, a scenic and an adventurous part, or even a cycle loop and a path hike - as a double pack, so to speak. I was really thrilled, especially by the diverse bird life that lives on the lake. As I don't always read the descriptions of the northern paths, I only learned at the end that the route along the dike actually runs along the top of the Ostedeich dike 🙈. That means: from the first crossing over the fence, I could have walked to the observation tower on the top of the dike. In my eyes, the NP signs pointed 👀 to the cycle/footpath - well, I was too tame again. Next time I'll know better. From the observation tower, however, we continued on to the top of the dike with a wonderful view. The stretch between Vörder See and Bremervörder Hafen is walked twice, but that doesn't matter - on the contrary, it combines the contrasting landscape impressions perfectly. On the way towards the Ostetal Bridge, the first fog rolled in over the water in some places, and with the dead or submerged trees covered in moss, a mystical atmosphere arose again until sunset. Finally, we walked the last stretch along Vörder See back to the starting point, where there is also a disc golf course, a mini golf course and fitness equipment - if you still feel like it 😉.
Today - at -3 degrees - we hiked this tour. The water was sometimes very close to the path and a bridge was flooded. The northern part ran mainly through fields and meadows. The southern one right next to the east and through the forest. Overall, a beautiful and varied route that is easy to walk. We recommend. VG
A small Easter Saturday 20km tour from the North Paths. This always guarantees quality. The center is Bremervörde and you walk along moors, the Oste, Lake Vörder and it's not all that spectacular, but despite the holiday weekend it's very quiet, remote and very, very beautiful. Despite the hazy weather. Recommendation.
