On the jewel of the Mehrerau lakeshore in Bregenz

You start at the train station in Bregenz and walk along the lake promenade towards Mehrerau. A detour to the viewing platform is worthwhile for a beautiful view of the lake. After the Wocherhafen kiosk, the path leads you into the species-rich floodplain forest. Around the small pond, you'll discover beaver tracks and immerse yourself in the diverse birdlife – a concert of chirping, rustling, and calling.

The area between the Bregenzer Ache and Lake Constance is a nature reserve and a biodiversity hotspot. Here, you'll encounter bodies of water, reed beds, and wetlands – important habitats for waterfowl and spawning grounds for numerous fish species. From April to May, you can even discover one of Vorarlberg's rarest plants: the Lake Constance forget-me-not. It blooms in bright blue on the gravel areas along the shore – small but beautiful.
