You can take a trip to neighboring Belgium on this Vennbahn loop: Starting from Aachen main station, you cycle via Kornelimünster across the border to the former potters in Raeren. And then back to Aachen via the beautiful Preuswald.
Right at the start of the tour, you follow the route of the former Vennbahn, enjoying not only beautiful nature but also some historical impressions. In Kornelimünster, a town with a medieval core, it is worth making a first stop and strolling through the charming alleys. Then you head ever closer to Belgium.
Raeren was known for its pottery from the 13th century onwards. You can get an idea of what the ceramics that were sought after throughout Europe at the time looked like in the historic moated castle, which also houses a pottery museum.
Finally, you get back on the saddle and start the journey back to Aachen: via Hauset and Hergenrath you reach the Aachen Forest, which leads you back to the city worth seeing. Speaking of sights: before you head home, it's worth taking a detour to Aachen Cathedral and the historic town hall!
