This route was planned by komoot.
We had planned a bike tour through the Heinsberg region between the Rur River. A beautiful path through the upper Schaagbach Valley, through Wildenrath, led us to Wassenberg. From here, unfortunately, we mostly followed the road, and it became too asphalt-heavy. Ultimately, the renovation of the cycle path with a detour behind Heinsberg forced us to re-plan. The detour to Lago Laprello and through the Kitscher Bruch nature reserve lifted our spirits. We continued across the Rur past Effeld Castle to Effelder Waldsee. Here we crossed the border to Vlodrop and entered the Roerdal and De Meinweg areas. A stop at De Boshut not only provides a refreshing break, but you can also find information about the surrounding area at the visitor center and get maps if you don't want to go all digital. A beautiful cycle path between points 54 and 55 takes us along the Iron Rhine, across the forest, and back.
