A fantastic hike to Orvvosfossen. It's also worth taking the path up the waterfall. You'll be rewarded with a stunning view and a small lake with crystal-clear water.
Immediately behind the Gargia Lodge there is a small wooden bridge and from there a signposted, well-rooted and rocky path leads through a forest area that is particularly beautiful to look at in September thanks to the splendor of autumn colors. The waterfall is reached after approx. 2 km. The Orvvošjohka falls over a wide, smooth rock and stands out from the usual, narrower waterfalls.
At midday, we set off east of Alta for a hike to Orvvošfossen. Initially, we hiked through a forest, sometimes with adventurous crossings (Euro pallets with a slackline) 😅 of various streams. The path was muddy and covered with roots. Then the steeper section began. While I hadn't imagined it to be this steep, it was manageable with breaks. The effort was definitely worth it. Due to the rain of the past few days, Orvvošfossen had a good volume, so the width of the waterfall was clearly visible (not always the case). Clouds slowly began to gather. Now it was time to venture back down. The shoes I bought especially for the vacation handled this hike perfectly 😁.
Nice short hike to the waterfall. With more water it would be even more impressive.
An easy, varied hike to the impressive waterfall, currently icy. It's definitely worth it once you're there. You usually come across herds of reindeer here.
At minus 18 degrees and minus 25 degrees due to the wind, it takes a lot of courage for us to even set off... The beautiful path and the breathtaking view of the frozen waterfall make up for it.
As a reward for yourself, eat the waffles at Gargia Fjellstue, delicious!
