Hiking
The Wolfsklamm is a real highlight and is considered by many hikers to be one of the most beautiful gorges in the Alps. The hike starts in Stans: either at the signposted and paid car park of the Wolfsklamm or at the free car park at the Laurentius Church at the edge of the village. Both paths lead you directly to the Wolfsklamm, which awaits you with steep steps, narrow paths and impressive rocky gorges. Waterfalls rush next to you and make this tour a real adventure. At the end of the gorge there is a quiet stream bed where you can build your own cairn or simply enjoy nature.
You then continue walking over an impressive wooden bridge to the rock monastery of St. Georgenberg - the oldest place of pilgrimage in Tyrol. In the inn you can relax under the old chestnut trees and fortify yourself with delicious delicacies.
For the way back you hike along the Stations of the Cross in the direction of Weng. At the beginning you go back the same way, then you turn over a small bridge onto the wide pilgrimage path. Important: The descent via the Wolfsklamm is prohibited! Back in Stans you can stop at the Gasthof Marschall or the Da Capo.

It's a shame that you can only go up the Wolfsklamm.
The forest path back was 80% shady, however, and worth its weight in gold in today's temperatures.
The entrance fee to the gorge is justified, lots of new viewing areas and almost all of the walls have ropes. Great for walking or climbing the …
