View of Mount Teide from Reserva Natural Especial del Chinyero

Highlight • Viewpoint

The majestic Teide is present in every part of the island. From this point, between the stone walls of the orchards and the typical vegetation, it rises imposingly towards the sky.

From here begins the circular route of the Chinyero volcano through a landscape of pine trees and lava. The eruption of Chinyero in 1909 was the last volcanic eruption in Tenerife, to date.

View of the Chinyero Volcano

Highlight • Viewpoint

From this point you have, standing slightly elevated on a slope, an excellent overview of the ash cone of the Chinyero and its lava flows. The contrast between the green "Corona Forrestal" and the lava moonscape is particularly impressive here.

The lava formations are impressive, as is the view from the lava tongue over the detached head of the Chinyero to the Teide beyond.

June 1, 2024, 01.06.2024 Zum Vulkan Chinyero

A hike from Santiago del Teide to Montaneta over the lava flows of Chinyero. From Santiago del Teide, the rocky paths were constantly uphill to the Chinyero volcano. During the tour, you could admire great views of El Teide, El Viejo, Montana Negra. The island of La Gomera, which floated in the ocean like on a silver platter, was also a delight to the eye. The Chinyero volcano and its lava flows cover a large area. You cross several lava flows or walk next to them. There is a circular path around the volcano, but my path led west of it towards Montana Negra. After I passed the lava flows and walked through the beautiful pine forest, my battery died and could no longer be charged. That's why the further path to Montana Negra, Arenas Negra and the path after that were not recorded. The cell phone was repaired today and I'm posting the tour as I walked it and the photos are also included. .

Great tour towards Chinyero and all around. The tour offers everything you can find on Tenerife. There are also beautiful partially shaded paths. Good shoes are highly recommended, but not recommended with sneakers, as many paths lead over lava 🌋 and other rocks. You can also see the Teide, except yesterday it was only vaguely visible because the Calima has spread on the 🏝 since the WE. It was very hot. ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ you could also feel it through the haze. Always take enough water with you, even if there is no Calima.
