Hiking

This route is a collection of postcards of the most impressive volcanic landscapes in Tenerife. Along the way, a palette of thousands of brown, grey and ochre tones await you, colouring an immense amount of rock and earth textures.

As expected, El Teide is the star. The colossal cone rises above the ravines and constantly appears on the horizon. The native vegetation is another of the wonders of this walk. In addition, each season offers different shades in its whimsical shapes.

You can get to El Portillo, either by private vehicle or by bus on lines 341, 342 and 348. If you are going to use your own vehicle, keep in mind that parking spaces are limited.

The route is not complicated, neither physically nor technically, and is ideal for doing it with the family. Remember to be careful with rubbish; if you bring some snacks, take them back with you to help preserve the landscape. Any debris left unchecked can blow away in one of the frequent gusts of wind.

View of La Cañada de los Chupaderos

Highlight • Viewpoint

The landscape of the Chupaderos ravine leaves you speechless. Despite its calm appearance, the topography tells of the violence of the creation of the volcanic landscape. The ochre and grey tones and the sharp stones speak of the high temperatures that shaped this beautiful place.

View of Las Cañadas del Teide

Highlight • Viewpoint

Las Cañadas de El Teide are an immense plain located south of the volcano's crater itself and which is a plain, not strictly speaking, as there are small valleys and mountains in the middle.

From this point and on a large number of days of the year, you can see how the mountain slopes are covered by the clouds that cover the lower part of the island.

View of Mount Teide

Highlight • Viewpoint

The S2 circular route is easy to complete, but the view of Teide and the black rocks is definitely worth it.

Today we hiked up to El Teide. We started with heavy cloud cover. But since it's all uphill, we broke through the cloud cover after Aguamansa, and the more beautiful part of the day began 🌞.

We just barely found a parking spot at the visitor center and set off on "Sendero No. 2," a loop around Montana del Cerrillar. …

Easy hike with beautiful views of the north coast and the Teide. Easy to do with public buses.

Much nicer than expected. Short but varied. Great final tour.

...we hiked today.
Today's tour went from Caldera through the hilly lava and sand landscape to the "Llano de Majo".
We always had a wonderful view of the highest mountain, Teide, with a height of 3718 m.

Perfect view of Mount Teide. Relatively easy route.

Today we drove to the Teide National Park on Tenerife in wonderful weather (27 degrees). We had already chosen a circular hike at home and we went on it today. Even at an altitude of over 2,300 meters, shorts and a T-shirt were enough for us.

Unfortunately all the photos are messed up. Once again, Komoot is NOT ABLE to place the photos in the right place or in the chronologically correct place. My time on vacation is too important to me to spend hours placing the photos correctly by hand. So please excuse this mess, but it's not my fault!

Area, Arenas Negras 😊
led through a bizarre and varied landscape and you could almost see the Teide 👀 you can see it in my F's 😂

PS: Contrasting program to the coast, also above the clouds where freedom is supposed to be limitless 😉
