This route was planned by komoot.
That's how quickly winter can change overnight in early October. No chance of climbing the 2400m Lamsenspitze as planned. We're glad that someone ahead of us left their mark this morning on the path from the Lamsenhütte to the Eng. The strong wind blew the snow knee-deep in places. The finest powder snow 😎 and, yes, actually a "winter wonderland."
This tour was also fun for us ... a nice restaurant upstairs ... enjoyed a very nice view ... downwards a little rain so we are not over the meadows but rather used the not so nice bike route ... downstairs we have each other I also highly recommend the Eng-Alm.
We drove to the Eng on this gorgeous autumn day. Admittedly, we weren't alone 😂 But it was still beautiful; we were early, so it was still manageable. We started in the Eng, via Binsalm to the Lamsenjochhütte. At the top, everything was even lightly dusted with snow 😍 Back in the Eng, it was really busy, so we immediately escaped. Great tour in fantastic weather
Today with visitors – family and friends. You definitely have to showcase the beautiful corners of the mountains – and the Karwendel offers more than enough 😉😃 The tour is easy to walk and of moderate technical/fitness difficulty. But even that's quite challenging in the hot temperatures. A lovely tour with a good stop at the Lamsenhütte. A small highlight was the adder that snaked across the parking lot in the Eng valley 🫣
3rd day of the Karwendel tour. After the warm days, this time the “pleasure program” with the climb to the Lamsenjochhütte.
From South Tyrol, we headed to Tyrol, more specifically to the Engtal valley. We'd only heard about it before, but now we were finally headed there. Last night, we laid out the hiking map while eating and examined the area. There are many options for climbing the mountains, so we decided on the Lamsenjoch Hut. Information about the tour can be found here, for example: https://www.ahornboden.com/was-tun/wandern/lamsenjochhuette/ With sturdy shoes and surefootedness, you can easily get up and down the mountain. You might want to bring your hiking sticks, as the path is mostly scree. You can take a break at the Binsalm hut before tackling the nearly two-hour hike to the Lamsenjoch Hut. Once at the top, you'll receive a warm welcome and should definitely order something to eat. The lovingly prepared and baked goods here are handcrafted—you can taste it! Oh, and while you're sitting outside looking toward the Lamsenspitze, you might even spot a few climbing species. It's truly amazing to watch. After a delicious snack (and a few cuddles for Milo, the mountain rescue dog), we head back down to the valley. We chose the panoramic trail from the Binsalm mountain hut because we were well on time. It starts off ascending well, but as we continue, you have a fantastic view of the rear Engtal valley and the mountain range opposite. Then, as you get to the steeper part of the descent, the trail surface improves a bit, and you walk more on dirt/clay. This makes it pleasant, allowing you to concentrate on keeping your footing. A nice introduction to getting to know the Engtal valley and seeing where the next hike takes us...
Start in dense fog, which gradually cleared, so that there were beautiful motifs. The Lamsenjochhütte is highly recommended! The already steep descent from the Panoramaweg to the Eng-Alm was quite slippery after the heavy rain of the last few days, and you had to be careful.
